Surgery in implant dentistry Iscrizioni sempre aperte The Second-Level University Master of Surgery in Implant Dentistry is an advanced postgraduate programme designed to provide dentists with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and high-level clinical competencies in contemporary implant dentistry. The programme integrates biological principles, digital technologies, evidence-based clinical protocols and advanced surgical techniques for the rehabilitation of partially and fully edentulous patients. The curriculum has been developed according to current international scientific evidence and reflects the evolution of modern implant dentistry towards minimally invasive surgery, prosthetically driven treatment planning, digital workflows and personalized patient care. Special emphasis is placed on immediate implant placement and loading, hard and soft tissue management, guided bone regeneration, sinus augmentation procedures, full-arch rehabilitation, digital implantology, and the management of complex anatomical situations including pterygoid, zygomatic and patient-specific implant solutions. The Master adopts an international educational model combining online learning with intensive clinical and hands-on sessions delivered by internationally recognized faculty members. Participants will acquire the knowledge and practical skills required to diagnose, plan and perform implant rehabilitation safely and predictably while integrating advanced digital technologies into everyday clinical practice. Throughout the programme, students will critically evaluate current scientific literature, develop clinical decision-making skills, and complete an original clinical thesis based on evidence-based principles. Objectives The Master aims to educate highly qualified clinicians capable of independently planning and performing implant rehabilitation according to internationally accepted scientific standards. Upon completion of the programme participants will be able to: understand the biological principles of osseointegration and peri-implant tissue healing; perform comprehensive patient evaluation and treatment planning; interpret CBCT imaging and digital diagnostic records; utilize digital workflows for guided implant surgery; perform conventional and immediate implant placement protocols; manage hard and soft tissue deficiencies through regenerative procedures; execute sinus floor elevation techniques; rehabilitate complex edentulous patients using advanced implant concepts including All-on-X, tilted implants, pterygoid implants and zygomatic implants; recognize and manage biological and prosthetic complications; critically evaluate scientific literature and apply evidence-based clinical protocols; develop multidisciplinary treatment strategies for complex implant rehabilitation. Activities Teaching activities combine asynchronous and synchronous distance learning with residential practical training. The educational pathway includes: online lectures; live webinars; interactive seminars; clinical case discussions; treatment planning workshops; digital implant planning; hands-on surgical training; live surgery observation; cadaver laboratory sessions (optional); clinical documentation exercises; independent study; preparation of a final clinical dissertation. Course requirements Participants are required to: study the educational material provided through the e-learning platform; complete all online learning activities; successfully pass module self-assessment examinations; participate in webinars and practical sessions; complete assigned clinical case analyses; prepare and submit a final thesis; successfully pass the final examination. Admission requirements Admission is reserved for applicants holding one of the following academic qualifications (or equivalent qualifications recognized under current legislation): Master’s Degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics (Italian LM-46 or equivalent international degree); Degree in Medicine and Surgery with legal qualification to practise dentistry according to the regulations of the country of qualification; Other equivalent academic qualifications obtained abroad and recognized as suitable by the Academic Board in accordance with Italian legislation and University regulations. International applicants may be admitted following evaluation of the equivalence of their academic qualifications by the competent Academic Authorities. Applicants must fulfil all legal requirements necessary for professional practice in their respective countries. Admission may also be subject to curriculum evaluation and, where deemed appropriate by the Academic Board, to an interview aimed at assessing the candidate’s professional background and motivation.
